Evaluation

Me and Craig have now finished all out filming and have also finished editing out project, overall the whole thing went well however there were some small issues we encountered. One of out main problems we encountered was that we didnt make a production log or take a small notepad around with us, if we had done this it would of helped us plan things out and identify problems more efficiently. If we were to make another film/movie i would definatley plan better and take a notepad and pen with me as i filmed.

In our film we went for a comedy style of filming. We tried to achive this by using a stereotypical nerd style character and giving him a cheesy american accent. Another way in which we tried to achieve a humerous effect was through over exagerating everything. By this i mean that we had to enphasise small things to make each situation seem more bold. One example of us doing this is where the narrator introduces the bully named Brendon, we state that he has two girlfriends at the moment and that he "Killed his mum with a shovel", in the real world such a person would not be allowed into normal education however for entertainment purposes we added this in.

Overall our filming went well apart from a mistake that would done during the final scene. What happened was that we started recording the scene in the post 16 cafeteria room however because the area was crowded it ment that the sound and picture was not consistant as people would leave and enter the room. Another Major hick up we did was when we was recording the bully hitting Percy we left the camera bag in the shot, we spotted we had done this when we were editting so we had no choice but to re record the entire final scene. Eventually we finished recording all of out film and through editing we were able to get rid of any small flaws in out filming.

Mine and Craigs planning went well however our downfall was applying the planning to our movie, by this i mean that we sucessfully made a shot list, script, storyboard and synopsis however when we were recording we failed to use the scipt and as a result we had to make up alot of the speech used. Screenshots of the storyboard, script and other documents can be found on Craigs blog, i am trying to copy and paste them onto my blog however at the moment the school have blocked the URL of his blog.

Our film has now been uploaded to YouTube and can be found at the URL: www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8kopt50fi
I think as a overall evaluation it went well considering there was only two of us, some other groups had over double the amount of people meaning more resources and minds. If i did this project again i would spend alot more time planning out our filming and keeping a log of issues we encountered. Overall i hope the audeince found it humerous however thats for them to decide.

Locations

We used various different locations for recording, most of these were in and around the glossopdale community college area. We used corridors, classrooms, gardens and streets in our filming. By using the colleges corridors it gave our film a realistic effect as it had true school qualities. There is a short scene that was shot outside the school walls and this features Percy walking to his next lesson, although this shot is no more than 10 seconds long it is important that i mention that this was filmed just outside the glossopdale building.

In the final scene we used a free classroom to do all the recording. This proved a good decision as the room came already equiped with stationary and a whiteboard for us to write on. When we first entered the room there was insufficient speace to film out scene so we had to move around some tables and chairs. The good thing about the room we chose aswell is that it had a window on one side, this gave us some natural light to work with and it ment we didnt have to bother with switching on lights etc.

In one of our scenes it shows Percy walking into a I.T room, the room we filmed in was well suited to what we were looking for as it had lots of space and computers. The only problem with shooting inside a I.T room was that the computer screens flickered on camera and this ave the film a rookie looking effect, despite realising this problem there was nothing we could of done. In this room there were already some girls using the computer facilities, this proved useful tho as we managed to get one of them to participate in out film, this was a small shot that showed her putting her bag on a chair so Percy couldent sit down.

Start Wars Episode 2 Script

This script contains a vast amount of information regarding the mise en scene. This can be seen on the scirpt on drews script o rama. The Link to the script is: http://home.online.no/~bhundlan/scripts/Star-Wars-Episode-I.txt

Unfortunatley it wont allow me to copy and paste certain parts of the script so i will have to work on this.

Research

In this task i was required to research 3 film openings of about 2 minute length each. The 3 films i chose were Saving Pirvate Ryan, Hot Fuzz and Kevin And Perry Go Large. Once i have looked at these opening i will be able to take notes and apply whati have seen to make own film. I will also include screenshots of the 3 films as this will brighten up my blog and also capture key frames from the films.

Another bit of research i did was audience research, this involved finding out what type of films of friends watch. The way i did this was by asking a group of 5 of my friends about what type of films they like to watch, 4 of them said comedy and one said action. From these results i concluded that people ages 16 or 17 mainly would like to watch comdey films, although this may not be the same for other people comedy was certainly a familiar trend in my group of friends.
